Rock Skills Training
Our courses in Rock skills provide a progressive introduction to the basic skills and techniques of rock climbing.
These courses will allow you to develop the skills required to stay safe, enjoy the sport of climbing and provides the foundations for the development of your own rock climbing activities.
There are three different levels to rock skills training, so clients can choose the most appropriate level for them to access to the scheme.
Our aim is to deliver a high standard of coaching, focusing on devising a progressive learning environment for all clients.
Introduction
Introduction.
This one day course is perfect for getting started in rock climbing and is aimed at complete beginners or novice climbers.
All specialist equipment is provided and there is no previous experience required to attend our rock skills introductory course.
During this course we will cover the following:
Personal rock climbing equipment, climbing movement, technical skills such as tying in and belaying, abseiling, various hazards and lots of climbing.
Equipment required: Wear comfortable clothing and sensible footwear.

Intermediate
Intermediate.
This two day course is an opportunity to build on the fundamental skills taught prior to this course.
Climbing experience required:
Have completed a rock skills introduction or have completed 10 climbs on a wall or outdoors crag and 10 belays for a fellow climber.
All specialist equipment is provided.
During this course we will cover the following:
Practice belaying and tying in, setting up top and bottom rope anchors and the various skills required to become a competent second.
Equipment required: Wear comfortable clothing and sensible footwear.

Learn to Lead (Sport)
Learn to Lead (Sport)
This Rock Skills course will provide you with the skills required to lead climb safely in a bolted sport climbing venue.
This two day course is ideal course to improve your confidence when lead climbing and also refresh your lead climbing skills.
Climbing experience required:
Have completed 20 climbs on a wall or outdoors crag and have belayed on at least 20 occasions. Desirable to have completed rock skills intermediate.
During this course we will cover the following:
Climbing movement, correct clipping technique, lowering off at the top of a climb and lots of climbing.
All specialist equipment is provided.
Equipment required: Wear comfortable clothing and sensible footwear.
Location: Mourne mountains

This Rock Skills course will provide you with the skills required to lead climb safely in a single pitch climbing venue.
This two day course is ideal course to improve your confidence when lead climbing and also refresh your lead climbing skills.
Climbing experience required:
Have completed 20 climbs on a wall or outdoors crag and have belayed on at least 20 occasions. Desirable to have completed rock skills intermediate.
During this course we will cover the following:
Climbing movement, placing protection, building belays, correct clipping technique and lots of climbing.
All specialist equipment is provided.
Equipment required: Wear comfortable clothing and sensible footwear.
